Being self employed allows us to have some flexibility in what we wear to work, how we choose to order our day and how we choose to order our physical environment.
Creating an inspired work space, doesn’t need to cost a lot, it just needs to have some soul to it. What is it about your work space that reflects you, that reflects your energy, that reminds you of your vision?
This is key because most of the time our brain thinks similar thoughts, looking for patterns that reflect what it is thinking about. A bit of a mundane cycle. The mind will give you more of what you are thinking about.
To be creative and inspired, you need to be reminded of the unconventional, unique and different. Having a visual or sensory reminder to think and feel different or inspired will set up a chain reaction in the physiology that will have a positive impact on the whole system.
Space creates energy, clutter drains it, so get rid of it. Release it. Anything that doesn’t add value to you or your family let it go.
Have a place for everything and spend a little time everyday organising, sorting, re -evaluating.
Your space reflects some aspect of you, don’t judge it, accept where you are right now and take some small action to create a healthy inspired work space.
I have a small picture of me and my husband when we were younger and just starting out. It inspires me.
I regularly have fresh flowers on my desk and if I don’t, I try and snip a little bougainvillea which grows just outside my office area and put it in a vase. There is something inspiring about nature. It doesn’t judge itself. It just does the needful.
I also love having quotes and images in front of me because it shifts my perspective and lifts my spirits.
When I am inspired I have more energy and enthusiasm for everything, even the activities that I find difficult and tedious. There is an expansive energy to being inspired, surely, that’s got to be good for business.
How about you? Do you have an inspired work space? Tell us about it in the comments below.
