Wouldn’t it be good if stress didn’t have to be stressful? The good news is, it doesn’t.
For many of us, being “stressed out” has become the default state. But the problem isn’t always that we have too much stress. It’s that we’re carrying the wrong type of stress.
I discuss this in episode 1 of The Path of Least Resistance Podcast. You can listen to it or watch it below, or you can read the summary beneath that.

Stress Doesn’t Have to Be Stressful
There are actually two kinds of stress: destructive stress and productive stress.
Destructive stress is the kind that keeps you up at night, wakes you too early in the morning, clouds your decision making, and even damages your health and relationships. It shows up as doubt, fear, anxiety, guilt, shame, regret, or frustration. In short, it’s resistance. Resistance to the present, to the past, or to a possible future.
Productive stress, on the other hand, is the energy of growth. It’s what you feel when you’re starting a new job, building a business, entering a new relationship, or taking on a challenge that excites you. It can feel intense, but it’s not harmful. In fact, it often fuels joy, exhilaration, and fulfilment.
The sweet spot? Zero (or close to zero) destructive stress, and just the right dose of productive stress. That’s what I call the Path of Least Resistance.
So how do we get there? It starts with recognising that destructive stress is an inside job. We can’t control what happens outside of us, but we can learn to regulate how we respond. We can train ourselves to be responsive rather than reactive, and we can release the decades of stress that our bodies are already carrying.
That’s where my own practice comes in. I’ve been meditating daily for more than 30 years, and I now teach Vedic Meditation to busy professionals, executives, and business owners. Alongside that, I’ve built and consulted across multiple businesses, and I’ve seen first-hand how destructive stress wrecks creativity, clarity, and confidence.
My mission with this podcast is simple: to help you cut through destructive stress and find your own Path of Least Resistance. I’ll share practical tools, surprising insights, and yes, a bit of contrarian thinking when it comes to stress management, mindset, and success.
And if you think you “can’t meditate,” don’t worry, we’ll cover that in the next episode. For now, all I ask is that you stay curious. Notice when you’re in resistance. Notice when you’re in flow. And remember that stress doesn’t have to be stressful.
